At the Dubai Airshow 2025 taking place this week, the Azerbaijani air cargo specialist Silk Way West converted options for the purchase of two more Airbus A350F freighters into a firm order.

The carrier first ordered two aircraft of this type from Airbus in 2022. They are scheduled to join the carrier’s fleet by 2030, making it the first operator of these widebody freighters in Central Asia and the CIS. The delivery schedule for the second pair of A350Fs has not been announced.

“The A350F will strengthen our leading position in the global air freight market as we continue to modernize our fleet and reduce our carbon footprint,”

said Wolfgang Meier, President of Silk Way West Airlines.

These twin-engine aircraft can carry up to 111 tons of cargo over a distance of up to 8,700 km. Airbus is currently assembling two A350F prototypes, which are expected to begin flight testing in 2026–2027.

With the acquisition of the A350F, the Azerbaijani carrier is diversifying its fleet, which currently consists exclusively of Boeing freighters: five Boeing 747-400s, five Boeing 747-8s, and three Boeing 777Fs. In addition to the A350F, the airline expects to receive two more Boeing 777Fs and two new-generation Boeing 777-8F aircraft before the end of the decade.
