Uzbekistan Airways sees growth of 22% in passenger numbers
The group plans to serve more than 6 million passengers for the first time in its history in 2024
The total passenger traffic of Uzbekistan’s leading airline group in January-October amounted to 5.16 million, the company told CentralAsia+ Aero (https://t.me/centralasiaplusaero). During this period, 37,170 flights were performed (+28.8% year-on-year growth) and 54,950 tons of cargo and mail were transported (+37.7%).
For the entire 2024, the Uzbeki flag carrier plans to serve more than 6 million passengers for the first time in its history.
According to the forecast of the Central Asian country’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, annual net profit of Uzbekistan Airways is expected to reach 725.6 billion sums (some US$56 million), on revenue of 20.1 trillion sums (some US$1.6 billion).
As for the operational contribution of divisions to the company’s historic success so far this year, Uzbekistan Airways, a full-service carrier, transported 3.33 million passengers in 10 months, its seat load factor was 82.4%.
Uzbekistan Airways Express, a budget division, carried 1.5 million passengers, with seat load factor reaching 89.7%.
Silk Avia, which is engaged in regional and domestic operations, saw 328,870 passengers boarding its turboprop aircraft from January through October, its seat load factor was 81.5%.
Uzbekistan Airways Group remains the main carrier on international routes from Central Asia. According to available data, the Uzbeki airline provides 6.2 million international seats against 3.3 million seats of its main regional competitor, Kazakhstan’s Air Astana, which translates into a 65% share on international routes from Central Asia for Uzbekistan Airways against 35% for Air Astana.
