The largest airport in Kazakhstan – Almaty (ALA) has implemented the IATA DG AutoCheck digital system to enhance the safety of cargo operations. This solution will help to accelerate the processing of dangerous goods during the acceptance and subsequent dispatch stages.

The DG AutoCheck system was launched by IATA in 2019. It allows for the automated cross-referencing of the Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods with IATA’s Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) to determine the safety of such shipments for transport. The solution also facilitates physical inspections with a package preview feature that displays the required marks, labels, and packaging requirements.

According to the Bureau of National Statistics of Kazakhstan, Almaty Airport handled 16.3 thousand tons of cargo and mail in 2025, accounting for more than half of the total cargo volume processed through the air gates of this Central Asian republic. In the first quarter 2026, Almaty handled 5.23 thousand tons of cargo, a 45% increase compared to the same period last year.
