Cathay Pacific has announced plans to launch scheduled cargo operations and finalized the timeline for introducing non-stop passenger flights to Kazakhstan.

Cathay Cargo, the freight division of the Hong Kong-based flagship carrier, will inaugurate scheduled cargo flights on the Hong Kong–Astana route on August 1. The service will operate up to five times a week utilizing Boeing 747F freighters.

Additionally, Cathay Pacific has scheduled the launch of direct passenger flights from Hong Kong to Almaty for January 2027. In line with previous agreements, the service will operate three times a week using widebody Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

These agreements were formalized during a meeting between Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chairperson of the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan, and Oliver Coelho, Cathay’s Regional Manager for the Middle East.

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport emphasized that the new routes will expand the republic’s logistics capacity, strengthen bilateral ties, and drive trade and tourism growth.

Cathay Cargo ranks among the world’s leading air freight operators, managing a fleet of 20 Boeing 747F freighters across various modifications. In May alone, the carrier transported over 160,000 tonnes of cargo.

Cathay Pacific is one of Asia’s largest international airlines. Including its subsidiaries, the company operates a fleet of approximately 237 aircraft, serving more than 100 passenger destinations worldwide.
