A new in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFEC) solution from Panasonic Avionics has entered service onboard Azerbaijan Airlines’ Airbus A320neo aircraft. The configuration consists of the Astrova in-flight entertainment system and the Modular Interactive (MI) platform, according to the manufacturer.

The Astrova system features seatback 4K OLED displays with Bluetooth connectivity, as well as up to 67W of USB-C power at each seat to charge personal electronic devices.

The cloud-based MI platform supports passenger experience personalization based on loyalty tier, cabin class, route, destination, and other contextual factors.

“This partnership marks another important step in Azerbaijan Airlines’ strategy to modernize its fleet and elevate the customer experience through innovation. By introducing Panasonic’s latest in-flight entertainment solution, Astrova, we are not only enhancing onboard comfort and connectivity, but also reinforcing our commitment to smarter air travel across the region,” said Jonathan DeOliveira, Director of the Customer Experience Department at Azerbaijan Airlines.

According to Panasonic Avionics, the new solution is currently being deployed across 11 Azerbaijan Airlines aircraft—consisting of six A321neo and five A320neo aircraft—encompassing both existing fleet retrofits and linefit installations on aircraft currently under construction. In total, the new system will be featured on 22 of AZAL’s narrowbody aircraft.

Azerbaijan Airlines currently operates six A320neo aircraft in its fleet. This year, the carrier expects the delivery of three larger-capacity A321neo aircraft from the Irish lessor AerCap.
