Uzbekistan to launch civil aviation university to support expanding national fleet
New institution to provide training for pilots, technical personnel, etc
Uzbekistan’s president Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced plans to establish a Civil Aviation University during his address to parliament and the nation on December 26. The new institution will provide training for pilots, technical maintenance personnel, and specialists in airport management and operations.
The president noted that the university’s graduates will support Uzbekistan’s expanding civil aviation fleet, which is projected to grow from 105 to 120 aircraft in 2026.
Representatives from Uzbekistan Airways Technics (UAT), the largest regional aircraft maintenance provider, previously complained to CentralAsia+ Aero about the shortage of aviation technicians and engineers.
Currently, UAT coordinates targeted training programs with the Tashkent State Transport University. The university’s existing curriculum includes aircraft and engine maintenance, as well as the technical operation of aviation electrical systems and flight-navigation complexes.
