Tajikistan’s Somon Air reports continued traffic growth, plans fleet expansion in 2026
Privately-held airline carried 1.092 million passengers last year
Somon Air, the leader of Tajikistan’s air transport market, continues to demonstrate steady growth.
In 2025, the private airline had carried 1.092 million passengers, an 8.6% increase over the previous year.
Most notably, traffic surged by 62.4% compared to the pre-pandemic levels of 2019, when the carrier served 672,500 passengers.
The total number of flights rose by 13% year-on-year to 3,744 in 2025, of which 348 were domestic services.
This year, the carrier intends to build on this success by expanding its fleet and route network.
The delivery of two new leased Boeing 737MAX-8 aircraft is expected this summer, which will allow for increased flight frequencies on existing routes and the launch of new destinations.
The airline’s strategic roadmap includes launching services to London (UK), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), Beijing and Guangzhou (China), as well as Seoul (South Korea).
