Kazakhstan’s Academy of Civil Aviation and Kent State University have signed a memorandum of understanding outlining plans to develop joint educational and research projects in the civil aviation sector.

Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan described the agreement as “an important milestone enabling the phased expansion of cooperation in training aviation professionals.” Priority areas include dual-degree programs, academic mobility and joint research initiatives.

At the initial stage, the partners plan to launch programs in unmanned aerial systems, air traffic management and aircraft maintenance and engineering. In the longer term, the sides are considering expanding cooperation to more comprehensive educational initiatives, including research collaboration in aviation technologies, sustainability and industry digitalization.

The agreement marks Kent State University’s fourth project in Central Asia. The university has previously established partnerships with non-aviation academic institutions and government bodies in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan, steadily strengthening its presence in the region.

Founded in 1995, Kazakhstan’s Academy of Civil Aviation trains specialists in flight operations, air navigation, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and aviation security.
