Air Astana Group takes delivery of 60th A320 family aircraft
The A321neo arrived in Astana directly from the Airbus factory in Hamburg
The Kazakhstan-based Air Astana Group has taken delivery of its 60th narrowbody aircraft from the Airbus A320 family. The A321neo (MSN 13032) arrived in Astana directly from the Airbus factory in Hamburg on April 2. Registered as EI-KDK, the jet will be operated within the fleet of the parent carrier.
Currently, the Group’s combined fleet—consisting of the flagship Air Astana and its low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan—comprises 42 A320/A321neo and 18 A320/A321ceo airliners. Furthermore, the Kazakh carrier has placed a firm order for an additional 50 A320/A321neo, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2031.
Air Astana is the only airline in Central Asia operating the A320neo family powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G (GTF) engines. Due to design and manufacturing defects in these powerplants, the Group was forced to perform 22 unscheduled engine removals in 2025. The prolonged maintenance turnaround times for these units resulted in the grounding of 13 A320 family aircraft during the peak season, which ultimately led to a decline in the Air Astana Group’s profitability.
