Direct flights between Uzbekistan and Armenia resume after 30-year hiatus
Shirak Avia connects the capitals of both nations with regular flights
Armenian carrier Shirak Avia has launched regular passenger flights on the Yerevan–Tashkent route, marking the restoration of direct air connectivity between the two capitals for the first time since the demise of the Soviet Union.
The flights will operate once a week using Boeing 737 family aircraft.
Uzbekistan is not the airline’s only destination in Central Asia. Shirak Avia previously expanded its flight program into Kazakhstan, connecting Yerevan and Astana with weekly flights since April 20.
Shirak Avia is based at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. Registered in 2019, the airline commenced operations in 2022. The bulk of its route network consists of international flights to Russian cities. Currently, the carrier’s fleet comprises three aircraft: two Boeing 737-500s and one Boeing 737-800.
