Tajikistan’s Shohin Airlines orders first aircraft

Shohin Airlines, a young private carrier from Tajikistan, has disclosed its first order for passenger aircraft. The agreement, covering two A320neo and two A321neo narrowbody airliners, was previously listed in Airbus’s end-of-June order book as an undisclosed order.

According to Airbus, Shohin’s A320neos will seat 176 passengers, while the A321neos will accommodate 196 in a dual-class layout.

“The signing of our first contract with Airbus marks a milestone not only for Shohin Airlines, but also for the entire civil aviation sector of Tajikistan. The A320neo Family aircraft will form the backbone of our airline’s modern, efficient, and environmentally sustainable fleet,” said Zafar Ahmadzoda, Chief Executive Officer of Shohin Airlines.

Registered in June 2025, Shohin Airlines currently provides charter services using a pair of Mil Mi-8 passenger helicopters. The new Airbus A320neo family aircraft will enable the carrier to launch services to regional and international markets. Shohin could become the first operator of the A320neo family in Tajikistan, as the country’s flag carrier, Somon Air, currently operates Boeing 737NG jets.
