E-Gates now operational at Tashkent airport Arrivals
Electronic lanes designated for Uzbek citizens only
As part of wider digitalization program, the E-Gate automated passport control system has been launched in the arrivals hall of Tashkent Airport (TAS, Uzbekistan), increasing throughput and providing additional convenience for passengers.
The new area is equipped with eight electronic lanes designated for Uzbek citizens, management company Uzbekistan Airports said.
The E-Gate system was first implemented at TAS in 2023, in the departures hall of the international terminal. With the new system, the total number of automatic turnstiles at the Uzbekistan’s capital airport has reached 20.
Coinciding with a start of the winter schedule, another intermediate stage of reconstruction work has been completed: the arrivals hall has been expanded by another 2,200 square meters, an open terrace has been introduced (located on the second floor of the departures hall), and the VIP lounge in the Departures terminal has been expanded.
The final stage of the reconstruction will be the unification of the arrivals and departures halls into a single terminal complex. Upon completion, the total terminal area will exceed 16,000 square meters, and its capacity will increase to 2,400 passengers per hour.
