Chengdu Airlines to fly Comac C909 to Kyrgyzstan

Chengdu Airlines is considering to launch a regular passenger flight service between Kashgar, China and Osh, Kyrgyzstan, with operations expected to begin in April.

The plan was revealed following a meeting between the management of Airports of Kyrgyzstan—the state-owned operator of the country’s airports—and representatives from the Chinese state-owned aircraft manufacturer Comac (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China).

Comac, a shareholder in Chengdu Airlines, often utilizes the carrier to showcase and promote its aircraft, including the C909 regional jet. It is anticipated that the C909 will be deployed on this new route.

China began operating the 90-seat C909 (formerly known as ARJ21-700) on Central Asian routes in the summer of 2024. Chengdu Airlines already flies the aircraft between Kashgar and Khujand, Tajikistan.

Additionally, since May 2024, YTO Cargo Airlines has been using the cargo variant of the regional jet on flights from Yining to Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
