At Fergana International Airport (FEG, Uzbekistan), work is underway on a major overhaul of the apron pavement. Upon completion, the number of aircraft parking stands will increase to nine (from the current seven), according to the managing company Uzbekistan Airports.

The project includes full replacement of the worn‑out asphalt concrete pavement, strengthening of the base, and bringing all apron components into compliance with modern safety and operational standards.

The upgrade also involves renovation of utility systems, including drainage, as well as modernization of apron lighting with more energy‑efficient and state‑of‑the‑art equipment. The last reconstruction of this facility took place in 1991.

Last summer, a new departure hall was commissioned at the airport, increasing passenger capacity by a factor of 2.7 and significantly raising the standard of passenger service.

Fergana is one of three international airports (along with Andijan and Namangan) serving the most densely populated region of Uzbekistan – the Fergana Valley, home to about 12 million people, which accounts for nearly one third of the country’s population.

Last year, Fergana ranked among the top five largest airports in Uzbekistan, handling 693,400 passengers (+19%). International traffic dominates the airport’s passenger flow (562,580 passengers).

Last year Fergana handled 693,400 passengers, a robust increase of 19% year-on-year, securing its place among the top five largest airports in Uzbekistan.
