SCAT Airlines, based in Kazakhstan, has taken delivery of two Boeing 737MAX-8 aircraft, according to the carrier’s CEO, Dmitry Denisov. The acceptance of the aircraft (MSNs 61833 and 63419) took place at the Boeing factory in Seattle, USA. BOC Aviation served as the lessor for these jets, Denisov said.

These new additions are the only aircraft SCAT scheduled for delivery this year. With their arrival, the airline’s fleet now includes 14 aircraft from the 737 MAX family, consisting of nine MAX-8s and five of the higher-capacity MAX-9 variant. The carrier plans to receive an additional two MAX-8s and seven MAX-9s between 2027 and 2028.

To date, SCAT remains the sole operator of the Boeing 737MAX in Central Asia; however, Vietjet Qazaqstan and Tajikistan’s Somon Air are expected to introduce the type later this year.

In March, SCAT commenced construction of a new hangar facility at its home base, Shymkent International Airport. The center is designed to provide full-cycle maintenance for the Boeing 737 (Classic/NG/MAX), Boeing 757/767, and wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft families.
