Azerbaijan Airlines expands fleet to 30 jets
Azerbaijani flag carrier takes delivery of its fourth new aircraft since the start of the year
Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), has added another next-generation Airbus A320neo family aircraft to its fleet. This marks the fourth new aircraft delivered to the Azerbaijani national carrier in 2026.
With the induction of this A320neo (MSN 13281), AZAL’s total operational fleet has reached 30 jet aircraft.
The aircraft, registered as VP-BTF and named Astara, arrived at its Baku base on July 17 directly from the Airbus manufacturing facility in Hamburg. Powered by CFM LEAP-1A26 engines, it features a two-class layout accommodating 156 passengers (12 in Business Class and 144 in Economy). The cabin is equipped with the Airspace interior featuring enlarged overhead bins, high-speed Wi-Fi, and individual inflight entertainment (IFE) screens in Business Class.
Since the beginning of 2026, AZAL has already taken delivery of two A320neo aircraft and its first A321neo.
Fleet expansion and network growth enabled AZAL to boost its traffic volume in the first half of the year, despite a challenging geopolitical environment in the Middle East.
Under its ongoing modernization program, the airline plans to grow its fleet to 50 aircraft by 2032.
