Azerbaijan’s air route network expands by third in a decade

Over the past decade, Azerbaijan’s air route network has grown by 27%, according to the IATA Regional Air Connectivity in Azerbaijan report. In 2025, the network comprised 95 routes, up from 75 in 2015.

However, between 2024 and 2025, the number of routes declined by 4%. 17 destinations were closed, only six new ones were launched, and flights on seven previously suspended routes were resumed.

In 2025, 39 airlines operated in the Azerbaijani market, 15 more than a decade earlier. At the same time, two-thirds of all routes were served by a single carrier, while 23% were operated by two airlines and 11% by three airlines. Scheduled passenger services are currently available at five airports across this South Caucasus republic.

According to IATA, neighboring Georgia expanded its air route network by 108% over the same period, growing from 64 to 133 destinations.
